Turn tutor feedback into a practice plan
Keep feedback specific, manageable and connected to the exercise you are working on.
Record the actual observation
Write down the point your tutor made and the exercise it refers to. If the instruction is unclear, ask for clarification before changing several things at once. Distinguish an observation about one attempt from a general judgement about your ability.
Choose one next action
Break broad feedback into a small repeatable task. Keep the original exercise and compare the next attempt under similar conditions. Record what you changed and what remained difficult. A sequence of ordinary attempts is more useful for learning than one selected highlight.
Close the loop
When you send the repeat, include the earlier question and explain how you applied the advice. This allows a tutor to respond to progress rather than reconstruct the conversation. Follow the assignment format provided by your course.
Make room for repetition
Do not treat every new lesson as a reason to abandon an unfinished skill. Build short review sessions into your schedule and ask your tutor when you are ready to progress.
A useful format for your next question
Copy these headings into your practice notes. Keep the description short enough that your tutor can identify the exercise and the decision you need help with.
- Exercise: the assignment name and the date of this attempt.
- Earlier feedback: the exact point you were asked to work on.
- What I changed: one adjustment you made in response.
- What I noticed: what improved and what still looks inconsistent.
- My question: the specific part you want the tutor to review.
For example, a paper drawing exercise might ask: “I repeated the same outline at three sizes. The smallest version loses the space between two shapes. Should I simplify that detail before repeating the design?” Attach the whole exercise so the question has context.
Keep the response with the work
Save the tutor’s answer beside the photograph and your notes. When you return to the exercise, you can see which advice belongs to which attempt. If an instruction seems to conflict with an earlier one, ask about the difference rather than combining both without understanding them.
